I might have gone a little overboard with the posts today, but what the heck, I’m on vacation. I ought to be out golfing. Instead, I’m indoors writing about it and getting myself organized. I guess I lied when I said “Next: a beginner’s first eagle.” That will be the next full article, though. At least I think it will!
Anyway, what’s with the preference towards men in golf? Why is it the PGA and the LPGA? And the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women’s Open? Why not the PGA and the MPGA and the U.S. Open and the U.S. Men’s Open? Just a thought… and this won’t be the last you hear from me along these lines.

Don’t forget that golf started out being played exclusively by men. So much so that back in the day people even thought that GOLF was an acronym for Gentleman Only, Ladies Forbidden. Women’s golf has come a long way though – so you’ve got that going for ya… which is nice 😉
FYI The word golf derives from the Scottish word *goulf*

Mary, Queen of Scots, and other royalty had cadets (caddies) carry their clubs as early as the 1500s. Actually, the first “formal” club was the “Company of Gentlemen Golfers” in Scotland, which implies golfers were both genders and the men decided to branch off. Then it probably migrated to America this way where white men declared it their own. The fact that women are more visible in the golf world tells me that men have come a long way… keep up the good work!

Hey Golfchick, I had found a site a few years ago similar to yours. I’m on the quest also with 377 different courses played in 25 states and 8 countries. Top courses include Wolfcreek, Ko’Olau, Old Course, Carnoustie, Pebble. I enjoyed reading your list…..keep after it! Nuts in Texas
